Horizons Program for Cancer Patients

The Horizons Program is a special 12-week exercise and education program for cancer patients who are ready to begin an exercise program. It is designed to teach cancer patients how to incorporate healthy lifestyle changes to help improve their daily living.

For the program, HealthPlex has combined its resources to provide cancer patients with the expertise of exercise physiologists, health educators, dietitians, health promotion specialists and psychologists. These knowledgeable staff members teach the education and exercise classes.

Participants in our Horizons Program receive a health screening including:
    •  Body composition
    •  Resting pulse
    •  Height and weight
    •  Blood pressure
    •  Flexibility test
    •  Exercise test (in some cases)

The Horizons Program includes group exercise classes in yoga, t’ai chi, water aerobics and weight training. Participants will also use the HealthPlex’s cardiovascular equipment.

Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $75 for the 12-week program ($25 per month). Insurance will not cover the Horizons Program cost. A physician’s referral is required. For more information, please call 609-7496.
